About the Role:
The Palliative Medicine Specialist at Anam Cara will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to patients facing life-limiting illnesses. In this integral role, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred, holistic and high-quality palliative care services that aim to enhance the quality of life for our patients and their families.
You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team which includes a Spiritual Care practitioner and Art Therapist, to alleviate suffering, manage symptoms and support patients in their journey towards a peaceful and dignified end-of-life experience. The role also involves exciting opportunities to contribute to teaching, research, and the supervision of medical students as part of our commitment to education and continuous improvement in palliative care.
Selection Criteria
We are looking for someone who:
- Is registered with AHPRA as a medical practitioner.
- Has a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Palliative Care) or Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine.
- Can provide evidence of continuing practice and medical education in Palliative Care medicine.
- Can demonstrate a strong commitment to guest and family-centered care and a compassionate approach to guest interactions.
- Has excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Has knowledge of pain and symptom management, ethical issues in end-of-life care, and advance care planning.
