An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Palliative Medicine Specialist/Physician to work as a locum for leave cover which may include ward and consults service, and work in the palliative care outpatient clinic setting for up to 12 months. This provides the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary setting across all sites of Eastern Health. There are 3 outpatient clinics, based at Box Hill Hospital and Maroondah Hospital.

You will be joining a dynamic team which includes 5 accredited advanced trainees with 2 based at Wantirna Health (inpatient PC unit), 2 based at Box Hill Hospital and Maroondah Health (consult) and 1 based at Eastern Palliative Care (community). 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • A registered medical practitioner in the State of Victoria via AHPRA
  • Recognition as a Palliative Medicine Specialist via the Royal Australasian College of Physicians’ (RACP) Chapter of Palliative Medicine, where the qualification of FAChPM has been conferred following Fellowship recognition by the RACP.
  • Must be recognised by Medicare as a specialist in Palliative Medicine.
  • Must participate in relevant college continuing education programs related to Palliative Medicine. 

Other:

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching of medical students and HMOs.
  • Teaching experience of other clinical staff – nursing and allied health.
  • Exposure to and experience with research practices and principles.
  • Familiarity with clinical information systems. 

Desirable:

  • Membership of Australian and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine.
  • Computer skills – working knowledge of Windows environment including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
