Eastern Palliative Care Ltd (EPC) is the specialist community based palliative care service for the Eastern Region of Melbourne. We support people with a terminal / life limiting illness who have complex symptoms whether they be physical, psychosocial, emotional or spiritual.

About the role and you 

We are seeking a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast paced environment and loves working with people. Leading a clinical team of Specialist Palliative Support Clinicians, you are experienced in working in an interdisciplinary team, have knowledge of current loss, grief and bereavement theory and practice, experience in Palliative Care or a similar community health setting and are experienced with issues associated with death and dying. 

Co-leading a regional team alongside a Clinical Nursing Leader (Clinical Nurse Consultant) and reporting to the General Manager-Allied Health and Volunteer Services, the Allied Health Leader will provide team management (rostering, quality audits and performance management), secondary consults, case-load supervision and mentoring to ensure clinical excellence in the the provision of discipline specific psycho-social support, counselling and spiritual care to clients and their carers within an interdisciplinary team model. 

The Allied Health Leader will also be an active member of the wider Leadership team driving best practice and initiatives to support positive workplace culture. Working closely with other geographic Allied Health Leaders to ensure accurate prioritisation of clients, rostering management and excellence in client care and support, your previous experience in a leadership position that includes the provision of clinical supervision, will ensure you will positively lead this team and provide mentoring and guidance to colleagues.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for an allied health leader who:

  • Holds a mandatory relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling. 
  • Has demonstrated capability, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management position that includes HR management and the provision of clinical supervision.
  • Has experience and skills in the leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary care team and is able to lead workplace culture and change management where required. 
  • Has membership/registration to a relevant professional body (AASW, ACA, PACFA). 
  • Is an experienced communicator with competent oral and written communication skills, report writing and presentation skills. 
  • Has highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills, emotionally attuned leadership and is experienced in the provision of coaching and mentoring. 
  • Has knowledge of the Value Based Health Care principles.
