As a Research Assistant/Officer for the FOCUSau project, you'll play a crucial role in implementing a national trial of a digital health intervention for people with advanced cancer and their carers. You'll gain invaluable experience in clinical research, working directly with patients and healthcare professionals at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and potentially other clinical sites. This role offers you the chance to directly impact cancer care outcomes while developing your skills in participant recruitment, data collection, and trial management.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate Participant Recruitment: Screen, identify, and recruit eligible participants across multiple tumour streams at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and other sites.
- Manage Study Data: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all participant interactions and study activities, following Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists and nurses, to support study implementation.
- Support Trial Processes: Assist with electronic data collection, management, and monitoring, ensuring compliance with ethical and governance standards.
As part of this collaboration the Project Officer will regularly communicate with current aged care service providers, provide training and assist in the development of sustainable initiatives within facilities.
Selection Criteria
You will be a great fit if:
- You are a compassionate and detail-oriented professional with experience in clinical research or patient care, possessing excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work sensitively with patients and families affected by advanced cancer.
You may also:
- Have experience in liaising with patients in a research and/or clinical capacity.
- Be provicient in using clinical databases (ef EPIC) and Microsoft Office.
- Possess strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Hold a current Good Clinical Practice certificate.
- Have research or clinical experience in oncology or palliative care (desirable).
- Be registered with AHPRA as a healthcare professional (desirable).
